Dianna and I studied at Chattanooga State together. She was the sweetest person and dearly loved her family. She often talked about her husband, son, daughter and grandchildren. I will miss her and I know her family will miss her more.

Condolences to the Mathis Family of your beloved, wife and mother. May God comfort you now and the days to come. I will cherish the memories that I have of Mrs. Mathis. She always had such a beautiful smile and was soft spoken as we were neighbors for over 40 years. May the Lord hold you in his arms during your loss.

Love, always,
Dr. A Thornton and Family

Mrs. Mathis (Ms Mat as I called her) was an expectation woman. Her daughter and I were inseparable best friends. I met them; Sereta, Butch, Mr. & Ms. Mat when I was 7 years old. She was like my mama. She watched me grow from a little girl to a woman. As years pass, my love and admiration for her deepened. She showed me the true definition of a woman of God, wife, and mother. Her sweet soft voice, uplifting spirit, and constant words of encouragement will be embedded in my soul forever. Her passing is bittersweet, heartbreaking, and sad. BUT, I know she’s at peace with the Lord and with her beloved daughter. I love you Ms. Mat, see you later!!!
