Obituary

Joyce was one of two children born to the union of the late Frank Henderson, Sr. and Claudia Mae Henderson. Joyce transcended into celestial peace, Sunday, January 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank Henderson, Jr.,; and son, Robert Lewis “Bar Bar” Edwards.

Joyce attended Booker T. Washington school, later she received her G.E.D. Joyce was an entrepreneur for several different jobs. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Alton Park and wanting to continue her Christian journey, she united with Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health failed.

Joyce loved doing yard work, spending hours and hours in her yard. She loved cooking and baking. It was really joyful for her to cook, especially when it would reflect the holiday seasons. One of her greatest joys in life was doing volunteer work as a foster-grandparent.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memories, son, Sidney Edwards, of Chattanooga Tennessee; three grandchildren, LaWanda Edwards (Victor) Young and Shaunda Edwards, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Follis, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four great grandchildren, Michael Talley, Anthony Cal, Paige Young and Zarrya Monroe, all of Atlanta, Georgia; one cousin, Elizabeth Hayes of Chattanooga, Tennessee; nieces, Paul Davis Shack, Sharon Davis Avery and Veronica Davis (Andrie) Baxter, all of Gadsden, Alabama; nephews, Anthony Davis (Deanne) Frazier of Gadsden, Alabama; special friends and relatives and too many dear friends to name. Joyce had a very devoted love for her Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church family.

Public viewing will be held from 2pm - 6pm Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the funeral home. A private family funeral service will be held. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.

The funeral service will be broadcast live beginning at 12:00 pm EST Monday, February 1, 2021 at www.johnpfranklinfuneralhomefacebook.com.

To my dear friend Sidney on the passing of your mother, I know that Joyce will be missed by you, other loved ones and friends; however, as much as you all loved her, God loved her best so he took her home with him. Be blessed. Always remember the good old times that you shared with her. Keep her in your heart and she will always be with you.
Sincerely, Mary and Morris Joffer, Atlanta, Georgia.

Joyce brought delight to my heart with every remembrance of her, starting when we first met in the late fifties. She ALWAYS had something nice to say and twinkles of love in her eyes. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed. Sidney and family, we ask God’s blessings of comfort for you, and pray that your grief will be replaced with happy memories of her love.
