Obituary for Wilma Braxton

Wilma Lee Braxton was born December 11, 1957, in Chattanooga, TN. She went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2022.

Wilma graduated from Kirkman Technical High School in 1975. She earned an Associate Degree in Paralegal at Chattanooga State Community College. During her childhood through mid-adulthood, she was a member of Mt. Paran Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the adult choir. In recent years, Wilma was a member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Lee Lucas and Susie Mae Lucas; husband, Lawrence Lee Braxton.

Wilma is survived by her daughters, LeQuawana Ervin (Dana Jones) and Leverlia “Vasia” (Tim) Green; five grandsons, James (Nicole) Greaves, Min. Elliott Farmer Jr., Kameron Farmer, David “Tre” Campbell, and Matthew Campbell; long-term companion, Reginald Norwood; step-mother, Mary E. Jennings; three brothers, Aaron (Dorothy) Lucas, Edgar (Anna) Lucas, and Joseph Lucas; two sisters, Mary Lucas Spivey and Elizabeth (Terry) Bell; six nephews, Robert Allgood Jr., Andrei Lucas, Marcus Lucas, Killian Allgood, Isaac Lucas, and Danielle Bell; one niece, Alexandrea (Robert) Schubert; one great-nephew and three great-nieces; aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends; life-long friends, Judy Benjamin, Adreia Spann, and Deatrice Craddock.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 810 Shallowford Road, followed immediately by an 11:00 AM funeral service.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
