Obituary for William Hurt, III

William Douglas Hurt, III, 50, God called to eternal life September 3, 2020. He was born on December 18, 1969 to William Douglas Hurt, Jr. and the late Odessa Hurt. William known as Billie was a graduate of Tyner High School Class of 1988. He served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years. He attended CSCC and worked for Piccadilly Cafeteria and Books a Million. He was baptized at the early age of 9 years old by Rev. Paul A McDaniel of Second Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Family Ministry Four. William spent the last 10 years of his life at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Mechele Hurt.

Survivors include his father, William Douglas Hurt, Jr. and stepmother, Roslyn V. Hurt; devoted aunt and daughter, Mattie Foster McKenzie and Carol McKenzie; aunts, Nellie Brown, Gussie (Robert) Carlyle, Irene (Harold) Heard, Rosa Hurt, Eva Hawes; uncles, Henry E. Foster, Richard Hurt, Sr., Arthur Hurt, John Michael (Pam) Hurt; nephews, John W. Nolan, Terrell Borders, Jermaine Borders; a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9 am – 1 pm Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the funeral home, followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
