Obituary for William Quinn Brooks

William Quinn Brooks was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 18, 1936 to Bentley A. Brooks, Sr. and Dollie V. Brown Brooks. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and graduated from Howard High School. He was a member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.

William was employed by Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also held other jobs, simultaneously, with his full-time job as a maintenance technician at Harvard University. He retired after many years of dedicated service and hard work.

William was affectionately called “Bill” by many who knew him and loved him. He possessed a very strong work ethic and admired those who shared the same ethic. He was a history fanatic and enjoyed reading. He also enjoyed sharing God’s word with those who crossed his path in life.

On Friday, October 28, 2022, William answered God’s call and departed this earthly life at a local hospital.

Among those who precede him in death include his parents, Bentley A. Brooks and Dollie V. Brown Brooks; brothers Bentley A. Brooks, Jr. and Clarence T. Brooks; sister, JoMarian Brooks.

Cherishing his memories include his daughter, Sonia Brooks of Poughkeepsie, NY; brothers, Robert (Charlotte) Brooks, of Marietta, GA and David (Mary) Brooks, of Chattanooga, TN; 2 nieces, Charlyn and Porshe Brooks; 2 grandnieces, Cierra and Jasmine Brooks; and devoted nephew and caregiver, David Brooks, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN; a host of other relatives and friends; special recognition to Mrs. Pat Dickens for the loving care she provided during his illness and Erlanger Continued Care program for their service.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, November 6, 2022 at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Monday, November 7, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
