Wendell Lamont Mitchell was called home by the Lord on Saturday,
April 22, 2023. He was the son of the late Calvin Hayes, Jr.
and Linda Gail Mitchell. He was a quiet, loving man with a love
for the Lord and his family. He will be missed dearly by all who
knew him.
Wendell was educated in the Chattanooga Public School system.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Hayes, Jr. (Candy);
mother, Linda G. Mitchell (Lynn); grandparents, Thomas and
Nannie L. Mitchell of Chattanooga; three uncles, Robert, Gary,
and Ronald Mitchell; aunt, Angela.
Those to cherish his memory are his two daughters;
sisters, Tewanna Mitchell Conner, Darnetta Norman, and Glenda
“Katie” Gardner; nieces, Talisha Mitchell, Mikayla Amey, Alonna
Silvels and Dasha Gardner; nephews, Dathan Mitchell, Carlos
Harrison, Mario Joshen, Demetrius Joshen, Jay-Wann Conner,
Eric Conner, Anthony Amey, Corderious Amey, and Davian
Canion; aunts, Geraldine Fortson, Gloria J. Sullivan, Carolyn Mitch-
ell Isom, Sheila McGee, Aretha (David) Thomas; uncles, Thomas
Mitchell, Michael (Mary) Mitchell, Otaria Sullivan, Rickey
(Patricia) Mitchell, Terry (Valerie) Mitchell, and Tracey Mitchell;
19 great nephews and great nieces, all of Chattanooga; bonus
father, Joe Readus, special loved one, Tashay James; several
cousins and other relatives.
Public viewing will be held 11:00 am-3:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by a 3:00 pm funeral service, on Saturday, May 20, 2023.
