Obituary for Walter Richard Cross
Walter Richard Cross was born to the late Mr. James Alexander “Barbee” Cross and Mrs. Mary Louise Snorton Cross on November 13, 1939, in Keysburg, Ky. Walter R. Cross, 82, finished his course of this life on Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home in Chattanooga, TN.
Walter Richard Cross gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Knob City High School in Russellville, KY. Later, he moved to Louisville, KY and joined Greater Salem Baptist Church.
In his early employment career, he worked for a few moving companies moving military families. He later drove for Mayflower trucking and then he moved to Chattanooga, TN., where he worked and retired from U.S. Pipe & Foundry, Co. after 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late James Alexander “Barbee” Cross & Mary Louise Cross; siblings, James Murray Cross, Martha Jane Cross, Waverly Cross, Willie Howard Cross, his late cousin, Robert “Bob” Muir., and his former wife, the late Reverend Mary Kathleen Ryan “Kat” Cross.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evangelist Edna Cross of Chattanooga, TN., his only daughter, Elder Kimberly Cross Robertson (Johnny) of Warner Robins, Georgia; a bonus granddaughter, Kenya S. King of Warner Robins, Georgia; 8 loving bonus children, one loving sister, Margaret “Jean” Bowers (Roy) a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, bonus grands, bonus great grands, and bonus great great grands. He leaves behind his godson, Minister Ricky Moore; god-grandson, Chase Lexxington Moore; three faithful friends, Mr. John Lewis, Mr. Chester Westfield, and the late Mr. Elmer Thomas. He also leaves behind one of his favorite cousins, Pastor Warren Russell Muir, Sr.,

Public viewing will be held 9:00am - 11:00 am Saturday, July 30, 2022 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2625 N.Chamberlain Avenue, Chattanooga, followed by at 11:00am funeral service. Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.
