Terry James Whitaker, age, 75, was born December 22, 1949, in Chattanooga, TN. He passed away April 21, 2023, in Griffin, GA
Terry was a faithful church member of Greater Beulah Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. He sang in the church choir until he relocated to Georgia.
His relocation decision allowed him to strengthen a more loving bond with his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Together they enjoyed a bonded family life. Terry has many relatives and friends in Chattanooga who will miss him dearly.
Mr. Whitaker is an American veteran who served in the United States Army amongst other soldiers who shared similar values, devotion, and bravery. His former employers, were Rockwell International, Professional Cleaning, and McDonald’s Restaurant.
Terry loved many sports, with wrestling, basketball, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, at the top of his must see list. He also spent an enormous amount of time watching martial art movies, especially the ones where the actor’s voices and mouth movements did not match.
Terry is one of three sons to his parents, the late Charlie Marcus and Viola Johnson Whitaker. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie J. and Jerry H. Whitaker, one niece and three nephews.
Left to cherish his memory are wife, Evelyn Whitaker, daughter, Alicia (Greg) Gallaher; granddaughter, Gracelynn, sisters, Rosa Harris, Ethel Cox, and Sherry (Wayne) Rollen, all of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, and nephews, and devoted friends, Randolph Yancey, Jimmy Griffin, Michael Norwood, and Pearl Nard.
A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Greater Beulah Baptist Church, 1301 Commerce Street, Chattanooga, TN 37404
