Obituary for Sue Elaine Connally

Sue Elaine Connally, age 83, was born on April 11, 1937 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Luke and Lillie Bell Connally. Sue’s siblings, Lucy Mae Spivey, Louise Brewer, Luke Connally, Jr. Betty Usher, and Elizabeth Ammons, all preceded her in death. We will miss all of them. Sue was born prematurely and was the youngest of her siblings.

She attended school in Chattanooga and played basketball at Orchard Knob. She was the matriarch of our family. She had no children but was cherished by all of her nieces and nephews.

She was a resident of Sharp Street in Churchville for many years. She received a community award for the oldest home. She was a faithful Sunday School teacher at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. J.W. Strickland is the Pastor.

Sue was a pillar of the Churchville community until her health failed. Family and neighbors called her Aunt Sue. Our love for our Aunt Sue will forever be in our hearts. Aunt Sue and her devoted nieces, Keyshia Jackson, Frances Williams and Jacquelyn Wilson have always been the "caretakers" of the family.

Her nephew, Shelton Jackson, was the love of her life. Aunt Sue will be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, great nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be held, 9:00 AM-11:30AM, Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the funeral home, followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service. Interment: Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
