Stella Mae Swinney was born December 23, 1934, in Courtland Alabama to the late Joe and Susie Woods.
She departed this life on July 14, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
She retired from Erlanger Central Sterile Unit. She was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (Mother’s Board).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Swinney; parents, son-in-law, Spencer Hammonds (Skip).
Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted daughter, Brenda Swinney Hammonds; sister, Cathyrn Key; brother, Matthew (Betty) King; grandchildren, Lynnette, Timothy, Spencer (Kisha) Hammonds; 6 great grandchildren, Talivia, Devin, Dionne, Rais, Kamari, Dominique; 5 great great -grandchildren; nieces, Susan and Cassandra; nephew, Martel; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation will begin at 11:00 am – 1:00pm Thursday, July 21, 2022 at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
