Obituary for Ruby Jaunet Brogden Brown

Ruby Jaunet Brogden Brown was born on April 9, 1940 to the late Deacon Delta and Mother Ruby Brogden. She was the middle of nine children born to that union. She passed away October 15, 2020.

Deacon and Mother Brogden made sure that Ruby was raised in Sunday school and church. She was baptized at the age of nine by Reverend W. A. Banks. She was a member of Carter Street Baptist Church until her family moved to Shepherd Tennessee where she joined Washington Park Baptist Church. There she played the piano for Sunday school services until she graduated high school. Ruby earned her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee A&I State University in 1962 and was hired as a teacher in Kansas City, Kansas.

She met and married Dr Donald Brown Sr when he was a sophomore at the University of Missouri School of Dentistry. Upon Dr Brown's graduation the couple moved to Los Angeles California where they started their family. Their union was blessed with three children, all strong Christian prayer warriors who were baptized at First Baptist Church of Reseda in California. Ruby held tight to her faith in the lord as the couple raised their three children, Donna Grace (Attorney at Law), Donald Jr (Attorney at Law), and Jeffery (MD). People always praised her at the success of her children and her response was always the same. Ruby felt that God was raising her and her children at the same time. She would tell them it was all due to the glory of God whose grace and mercy carried them through.

Ruby had a stellar thirty-six-year career as the Executive Director of a manpower training program. She loved travel and visited every continent in the world, including the mission field of the Great Rift Valley of Africa. Ruby enjoyed her family life group at Shepherd of the Hills Church where she was a member. Her favorite song is "Because He Lives". Her favorite bible verse is Matthew 11:28. Taught to her by her mother it reads “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

She is preceded in death by her brothers, John Henry and Delta Jr. She leaves to celebrate her home going, six grandchildren (Kirsten, Kyle, Donald III, Shiloh, Madison Jaunet, Ruby Tess); four sisters and lifelong best friends (Sylvia, Carolyn, Linda, Deniece); two brothers (Robert, Frank); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
An intimate private ceremony will be held 11:00am Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
