Obituary for Ronald W. Dodds, Sr.
Ronald Woodson Dodds, Sr. was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee April 27, 1939, to Clarence and Mildred Dodds. He departed this earthy life on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Ronald Dodds was a graduate of Howard High School Class of 1957. He served briefly with the Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga School Supply and made his career as a Diesel Mechanic at Southern Railroad where he later retired. He was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church for a number of years. He loved classic cars, and was an avid sports fan, especially football, wrestling, and stock car racing.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mildred Dodds; sister, Jacqueline Dodds-Tillison; brother, Alton Sims; and daughter, Sharon Dodds-Murray.
Those left to cherish his life and memories are his children, Ronica Dodds, Phalecia Dodds-Woods, Ronald W. Dodds, Jr., Darrell Dodds, Kevin (Victoria) Dodds-Muhammad, and Rhonda Dodds; sisters, Mildred Jeanette Dodds, Thelma Collier, Cherilyn (Gilbert) Bryant-Akins, and Dionne Dodds; brother, Don Dodds; 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, several other relatives, and friends; his dear friend and companion, Ms. Everlean Hart.
Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
An 11:00 am funeral service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 in the chapel of the funeral home.
