Obituary

Rodney Cord Wilson was born February 7, 1966, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the first born of four siblings. Rodney, affectionally known as Rod/Cord received his education domestically and abroad. While living in Athens, Greece, Rodney attended High School there and upon his return to the United States, Rodney completed his high school diploma at Central High School, Harrison, Tennessee. Along this journey called life, Rodney's love for climbing trees as child, along with cousins, Bennie Boy, Tony, David, and Donny Boy, paid off as an adult. Rodney became one of the "unsung" top Arborist with Massengill Tree Service. Another love of Rodney's was his grandmothers, Beverly Mathis-Wilson, and the late Melvin Massengill (Mamaw). He always sang their praises stating that "they were instrumental in making sure he graduated from High School and so much more."

Rodney professed Christ at an early age. Through adverse times, Rodney was confident knowing that God has everything covered.

Rodney is preceded in death by mother, Barbara (Bobby) Rogers-Pender and sister, Elysa Lynn Wilson.

Cherishing and loving Rodney are his parents, Earl (Millie) Wilson Jr. of Hinesville, Georgia; son, Rodney Wilson Jr.; daughters, Kelsey (Roderick) Hines, Latasha Sheppard, Kierra, Raquel and Alicia Wilson; ten grandchildren, Alayah and Ayson Hines, Rashad Whitten, Marques Boggus, Kanii Cooper, Jah'Kari Wilson, Somiyah Thomas, Kyree Hanna, Harmony Hunter, and Torey Hambrick; sisters, Ena (David) Wilson - Armstrong, Mea (Larry) Wilson-Manning; brother, Doniel (Christi) Wilson; devoted uncle, David (Robin) Massengill; devoted aunt, Debbie Massengill; devoted cousins, Quiante (Shanta) Price, Jimmy Massengill, Mario (Kimberly) Cunningham; a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, June 4, 2021, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 12 noon. Interment: Highland Cemetery.

Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
