Obituary

Robert Thomas Walker was born on October 12th 1941 to Patt and Victoria (Singh) Puryear Walker. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey. Robert had two siblings, Patricia Ann Walker and Ronald Richard Puryear. He came from a very large family, with many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Robert was a cross country truck driver for 50+ years. Wherever he traveled to, he always shared, the love of Christ. He knew no stranger. Robert loved to cook and bake bread. Everyone called him for directions and he would direct people straight to the front door, so please don’t get lost because then you would get a sermon, about how you did not follow directions.

Robert loved reading the bible, comparing scripture to scripture, and giving bible studies. He loved his family and his dying wish was that his girls and a host of relatives, would be saved. He desires to see all of us in heaven. To his wife Barbara, you were a sweet wife of almost 59 years. You lovingly took care of him, until he took his last breath. Hold on! for in just a little while, He that shall come will come and will not tarry. You will see your dear Robert again, you just be faithful, until the end.

He was preceded in death by his parents Patt Walker and Victoria (Singh) Puryear Walker, and siblings Patricia Ann Walker, and Ronald Richard Puryear. Those who are left in weeping, but awaiting that great resurrection day are; His wife, Barbara L. Walker, Daughters, Robin (Carlton) Gates of Mequon, WI, Tonia Dailey of Chattanooga, TN, Meredith (Peachez) Walker of Cleveland, TN, Alexis Holmes of Atlanta, GA, and Nyoka Mallory of Cleveland, TN. Grandchildren- Olivia Williams, Robert Dailey, Kesha Dailey, Yedah Damiani, Terrill Mangham Jr. and three great-grand children, one god-daughter Charelle DeBose, nephew Ronald (Pam) Puryear, niece Dana Puryear, nephew Simon Puryear and sister-in-law Belinda Puryear. His cousin Muata Weusi-Puryear the patriarch of the family and a host of cousins. Dear friends, Charles and Mary Moore, JB and Irene Williams, Vashti Brabham, Tommy and Susie Copeland, Dr.Bernard and Gwen Parham, Sylvester and Hortense Carrington, Sherri Dull, Pastor Ivan and Jean Warden, Jimmy Polite, Jacqueline Rountree, and Melvin and Liz Riley.

Cousin Bobby is 10 years my senior and always present growing up. He survived the same tuberculosis that took his sister Patty Ann before I was born. He was born on my dad’s 16th birthday.
His mom, Victoria, and my dad, also named Robert, were sister and brother.
I love him like a brother. He ministered to my soul when he and his wife shared their faith with me and my husband. His testimony led to our baptism. I am so grateful for his influence on my life. Thank God for his life.
My prayer is that Our Heavenly Father will comfort all who mourn as we come together to celebrate a life dedicated to the service of saving souls.
To God be all power, honor and glory! Amen 🙏🏽
