Obituary for Reginald L. Moss

Reginald Lamar Moss was born on July 10, 1970 in Chattanooga, TN. He was raised by his parents Fannie Mae Dunton-Moss and Hubert Moss. Reggie attended Brainerd High School (BHS) Class of 1988. He was employed with Allied Universal Security Services at Westrock for 20 + years. Reggie was a faithful member of Olivet Baptist Church (OBC) for eighteen (18) years, where he was a part of the music ministry playing the bass guitar.

Music started very early for Reggie! He started playing at the age of twelve (12) which continued during his high school years where he marched and played the trumpet. Over the years, he learned to play other instruments such as the drums. But always a bass guitarist, he quickly settled into what became so natural, so easy, and so smooth for him!!! Reggie was the leader/manager of the NuBreed Band, which was formed in 2001 and is still performing. He was the heart & soul of the band and truly enjoyed many years of playing with his band brothers, Twain Dawson (Drummer), Monty Billingsley (Keyboard), Michael Hale (Guitar) and Leon “Billy” Graham (Lead Singer). Other members have been – Steve “Stevie” McDermott (Guitar), DJ Gates (Drums), Jared White (Drums/Bass Guitar), Karen Collins (Singer), and TCT also known as the “The Girls” (Tosha Shotwell, Courtney Reid, Tiffany Colman, & Chassidy Jordan).

Reggie being a recognized and highly respected musician, God truly has blessed him to play with a host of other amazing, talented musicians, artists & bands throughout his lifetime, to name a few – Music Director for Shirley Jones (2007 to current); Jeff Hall/the Spiritual Highlights (early 90’s to current); started with the Valley Spirituals (7 years); NuMac Band; TSJ Band (Twain Dawson, Sam Patton & Jermaine Purifory); Willie Kitchens who was not only a great friend but also a mentor; Wilson Meadows (15 years); Hilliard & the Spiritual Crusaders (8 years); Gospel Sensations (1 year); The Malemen Showband (10 years); Pastor Marcellus Barnes & Sounds of Unity (3 years); The Power Players (10 years); Rise of Chattanooga w/Shane Morrow; The Impressions; Jay Blackford; Otis Redding Jr.; was instrumental in forming the Mocha Brownstone/Renaissance Band (4 years); and many more. Each day that Reggie lived and got to play his bass guitar was simply his way of leaving a legacy of love. A love that has touched, impacted and inspired many near and far!!!

Reggie, Reggo, Joe, truly loved music as well as his love of riding his motorcycle with his brothers in the Chattanooga Christian BikersAssociation (CCBA for 10 years). Those who knew Reggie also knew he simply had a way with ALL kinds of words (LOL)!!! Among those who preceded him in death include, his parents, Fannie Mae Dunton-Moss, Hubert Moss, biological mother-Ruby Kate Moss; sisters, Debra Moss, Willie Pearl Moss, JuDale Hines, Frances Virginia Moss; Brothers, Eddie Moss, Hubert Moss, Willie Moss. He leaves to cherish his memories and to carry on his legacy, his life partner, Katherlyn L. Geter; son Malik Lamar Moss; grandson Mi’King Lamar Moss; granddaughter Journey Malaysia Moss; Brother Anthony “Toney” (Linda) Moss, Terry Crowder; Nieces, Gloria Pulliam, Stacey Hughes, Robbin Moss, Gwen Pulliam, & a host of other nieces & nephews; bonus children/sons, Jack Johnson IV & Austin T.
