Pauline Clay Staten, 96, passed away October 18, 2020. She was born on February 8, 1924 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Emmett Clay and Sedalia Jackson Clay. She attended Morgan County Training School in Decatur, AL and was a retired beautician. She was a member of Greater Tucker Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Johnnie Staten; parents, Emmett and Sedalia Clay; son, James E. Patterson; eleven siblings, 6 sisters, and 5 brothers; great-great grandson, Ty’reke Evans.
She leave to cherish her memories a daughter, Melba L. Nichols; granddaughters, Antonina Ryan, Andrea Jones; grandson, Adrian (Greta) Hayes; sisters-in-law, Alma Clay, Gilda Scott; 3 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, a devoted son from another mother, Leonard Ross.
Public viewing will be from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Monday, October 26, 2020 at the funeral home, followed by a 2:00 pm graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
