Obituary for Oscar Preston, Jr. Jr.

Oscar Preston was born on May 7, 1948 to Oscar Preston, Sr., and Madeline Preston in Chattanooga, TN. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, he transitioned peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father.

Oscar accepted Christ at the age of 15 at Second Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully as a member of the Deacon board from April 18, 2009 until his health began to fail.

He was a graduate of Riverside High School, and an employee of Wheland Foundry for 30 years.

Oscar served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal, with 4 Bronze Service Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60mm mortar device, and the Air Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster.

He was joined together in holy matrimony with his wife Barbara, of Chattanooga, for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Madeline Preston; brother, Floyd E. Preston, all of Chattanooga.

Left to cherish his memory are devoted wife, Barbara Preston; daughters, Shinetha Preston of Chattanooga, TN, and Evelyn Preston of Atlanta, GA; sons, Jermaine & Michael Preston; brothers, Marvin Preston and Larry Preston; sisters, Brenda Preston-Griffon, and Doris Preston-Ray all of Chattanooga, TN; a host of family and friends.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 am-11:00 am, Saturday, May 27, 2023, followed immediately by an 11:00 am funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home.
