Obituary for Noah Oliver, Jr.

Mr. Noah Oliver Jr., 93, was born September 7, 1927 in Athens, Georgia to Noah Oliver Sr. and Sally Oliver. He and his brother Caleb moved to Chattanooga at the age of 9 and 10 years old. They both joined the Navy on the buddy plan when Noah was 16 years old. After a three-year tour in the Navy he came home to finish his education at Howard High School. This is where he met his lovely wife Annie whom he married after graduation.

He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority where he worked as a draftsman after many years of service. He also worked at the Mountain City Club and retired from there after over 50 years of service. He was a child of God and Baptist by faith.

Among those who preceded Noah in death include his parents, Noah Oliver Sr. and Sally Oliver; wife, Annie Lulu Oliver; sons, Noah Oliver,III, and Alfred Oliver.

Noah departed this life on Monday, March 15, 2021, in CHI Memorial Hospital.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving family, daughters, Sally (Elbert) Wallace, Gloria Oliver-Davis, Barbara (Willie, Jr.) Kitchens, Lena Oliver; son, Martin Oliver; brother, Caleb Oliver; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great, grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

A public viewing will be held 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a 12:30 PM private family funeral service.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
