Obituary for Nkenge J. Hood
Nkenge Jamiliah Hood, 41, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1979 at 3:09 a.m. in Chattanooga. She was a valued employee of BCBST as a Customer Service Expert in the Senior Care Division. She graduated in 1997 from Brainerd High School and served on the Color Guard Flag team in the high school band. NKenge attended the University of Memphis.
Nkenge gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated youth usher and choir member of Second Missionary Baptist Church under Dr. Paul A. McDaniel. Before leaving to attend college, she was affiliated with Marvelous Works Ministries.
She was kind-hearted, with a sweet smile, and loved God, her children, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Hood, Sr.; brother, Jimmy Hood, II; grandparents, John and Ora B. Hood.
She is survived by her children, Micah, Miyah, Milan, and twins, Malia and Mariah Gillespie; mother, Rev. Dr. Marva A. Lee; grandmother, Honorable JoAnne Favors; grandfather, Marvin Lee (Jeanetta); great-grandmother, Brittie Ervin; uncles, Randal (Dena) Lee, Sr., John Hood, and Gerald Hood; aunts, Kimberly Muhammad; special aunt, Karen Lee (James); sister-in-law, Tabetha Hood; nephews, Tyson and Jaylon Hood; a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.; special friends include Natalie Carter, Kasey Lee, Alia Dodson, Tanyell Nava, Angela Melvin, Libra Jackson, Casonta Bradley, and Freddie Warren.
Public viewing will be held 9:00 AM-11:00AM, Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the funeral home. A private funeral service will be held with Dr. Marva Lee as eulogist and officiant.
Interment: Lakewood Memory Gardens- EAST, at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 25, 2021
