Obituary for Nathaniel Jackson, Jr.

Nathaniel Jackson, Jr. was born on April 9, 1952, to Nathaniel Jackson, Sr. and the late Altha Virginia Jackson. His name was called on February 2, 2023, by his Heavenly Father to leave his earthly home and come to his heavenly home.

He was a graduate of Howard High School and retired from the Electric Power Board. Nathaniel was also a veteran of the United States Marines.

He attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where enjoyed singing in the church choir, spending time with his grandchildren, and playing dominoes. But what he loved most of all was being with his wife of 37 years and his family. They were his whole world.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Altha Jackson; son, Nathaniel Dewone Swann, and sister, Sharon Jackson Ginn.

He leaves to cherish his memory, father, Nathaniel Jackson, Sr.; son, Antonio (Tamala) Morgan, Demetric (Charita) Morgan all of Chattanooga and loving daughter, April (Anthony) Jackson Cook of Fort Oglethorpe; brothers, Millard and Micheal Jackson both of Chattanooga; sisters, Remenia Jackson, Nadine (Dennis) Fortson of Chattanooga, Cecilia (Ollie) Peters of Arkansas, Anita (Jefferey) Rutledge, Kassandra (Larry) Acklin, Katherine (Richard) Smith and Alicia (Author) Whatley all of Chattanooga; sisters-in-law, Barbara Morgan, Lenora Morgan, Patsy Morgan and Gail Morgan, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Akail Miller, Starmetris Morgan, Skyunna Morgan, Demiah Morgan, Jabari Besley, and Brooklyn Cook; great-grandchildren, Erick Johnson, Jr. and Damir Bumpass; dear friend, James Nalls; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the funeral home. An 11:00 am funeral service will be held, Friday, February 10, 2023 in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Interment with military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
