Minnie Esther Johnson Wiley 89, passed in her home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 . She was born November 20, 1930 in Chattanooga, TN, the youngest daughter of Jefferson and Ruby Thornton Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Wiley and daughter, Wilma Wiley.

Minnie was in the 1948 graduating class of Howard High. She then graduated from Morristown College . In 1961, Minnie attained her BS degree in Education from Tennessee A&I State University . She taught at Roland Hayes, Booker T. Washington and Hillcrest Elementary Schools.

Minnie Esther is an active member of St. John United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Gamma Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and an accomplished bridge player.

She is survived by: daughter, Deborah (Michael) Roberts; devoted nephew, Lee D. Brown, Jr; grandchildren, Stephen (Stephanie) Kahmaar Wiley Roberts, Bethany Roberts, Jordan (Lael) Roberts; step-grandchildren, Kelli Roberts, Michael Roberts ll; great-grandchildren, Stephon and Lephiano Roberts, Christina Megginson; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wiley Rice; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Public viewing: 1:30pm - 5:30 pm Thursday October 22, 2020 at funeral home; Zeta Service at 6:00pm. Funeral service at 11:00am Friday, October 23, 2020 at St. John United Methodist Church with a live broadcast at: stjohnumc.org/live.
