Obituary for Maxine Paris Lawrence

Maxine "Mickey" Paris Lawrence, 81, of Chattanooga, TN entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2022, at a local hospital. She was born May 4, 1941, in Hooker, GA to the late Johnny and Willie Mae Paris. She was employed for over forty years with the Chattanooga School System.

Maxine didn't meet a child that she felt was unteachable. She made learning a fun experience and was always ready to give hugs to students in the classrooms and halls. She cherished her family. One would often find her stimulating her mind by playing board games on her Kindle or watching the Lifetime channel.

Maxine was a member of Tucker Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. M. T. Billingsley until her health made it impossible for her to attend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Willie Mae Paris; husband, William C. "Pee Wee" Lawrence, Sr.; siblings, Margaret Starks, Marie Morton, James Paris, John Paris, Tina Powell, Mary Luckett, and Loraine Carr.
She leaves to carry on her legacy, son, William C. "Nick" (Bertha) Lawrence Jr.; daughter/caregiver, Lisa (Larry) Wade; siblings, Roberta Jackson, Virginia Clack, Lois Funderburg, (Detroit, MI), and Glenn (Vicki) Paris; grandchildren, Brandon (Miche) Lawrence, LaToya Lawrence, Nicholas Lawrence (Murfreesboro, TN), Jeremy Lawrence, and Jermichael Campbell; eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special dear friends, JoAnn Hilt and the late Omelia Flemister.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 am-12:00 pm, on Wednesday, May 25th at the funeral home followed by a 1:00 pm graveside service at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.

Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
