Matthew Aurelius Jones, III, 64 years old, was born April 25, 1958. He passed on October 2, 2022 at his residence.
He was born to the union of Matthew A. Jones, Jr. and Mary L. Smith Jones Grace. He was a Howard High School graduate, class of 1976. He joined the United States Navy in the early 1980s and served 15 plus years. He worked for the United Postal Service for 23 years.
He was predeceased by grandparents, Rev. Father Matthew A. Jones Sr., Olivia B. Browning Jones, E. L Smith, Eva Lois Jolliff Smith; father, Matthew A. Jones, Jr.; brother, Ellis Lebron Jones, Sr.; aunts, Rose Hicks, Brenda Frazier; uncle, Marshall Jones; cousins, Ronald Hicks and Violet Hicks.
Those left to cherish his memory are mother, Mary Lois Smith Jones Grace; daughters, Shenearia Jackson, and Lois Jones; son, Matthew A. Jones, IV; grandchildren, Kyaudreea Gaines and Lisa Jackson; brother, Gerald P. Jones, Sr.; aunts, Mablene Smith, Catherine Jones Williams, and Rosa Jones; close friend and former wife, Marlene Jones; bonus mother, Shelly Jones; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held 9:00 am - 11:00 am Monday, October 24, 2022, at the funeral home, followed by a 11:00 am chapel service. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
