This is the hardest condolences I ever had to write. I will deeply miss Mary Florence or as I called her affectionately Mae Florence. She was part of my upbringing that I can't forget. I spent every Sunday just about at her home. What I remember is that she was understanding and fair when dealing with children. I also remember she managed to raise her four children as a single parent during the 1970s and 1980s, at a time when it was much harder for black women to get well paying jobs. She was the last surviving member of her generation, besides my mother. When I heard of the deaths of other family members, such as, her sister, Betty Joe Robinson, my heart became more and more sad. Hearing of her death is an almost unbearable sadness. I am praying for my cousins-her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great children, who were with her when she passed away. I deeply wish I could be there to wish her farewell.

With love,

Marti 'Dimples' Lankford
