Obituary for Marva Hemphill

Ms. Marva Leida Hemphill was born August 26, 1960, to Dorothy Hemphill Hammonds and Willie Bonds Jr. She graduated from Howard High School in 1978 and attended Edmondson Junior College. She worked at the Read House for many years as a server and later acquired her CNA Certification and worked at Life Care of Chattanooga and NHC Healthcare. She loved working as a CNA and was once featured in the Chattanooga Times Free Press showcasing her love for taking care of patients. She loved being social, she loved dancing, and she loved BBQ’s. She enjoyed her life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by both parents; stepfather, Mr. Ralph Hammonds; aunt, Mrs. Mamie Coonrod; uncle, Mr. Marvin Hemphill; brother, Donnie Lebron Hemphill.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Ariane Adams and Corey Hemphill of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Adrianna Bolden and Aylssa Bumpass; sisters, Gloria Grady, Deborah Smith, Princess Barnes, Linda Bonds, Teresa Bonds and Kay [Tucker] Reed; brothers: William Hemphill of Memphis, TN, Jeffery Bonds of Chattanooga, TN ,Corey Hammonds of Shreveport, LA , Curtis Hammonds of Atlanta, GA., Darryl (Kim), Emory & Timothy Hammonds of Memphis, TN, Dennis, Darryl, Terry, Willie Bonds III, Marion Tucker and David Bonds of Chattanooga, TN.; aunts: Nellie Mitchell and Carrie Mae (Sonny) Melvin of Chattanooga and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Victoria Norwood and Laverne Armstrong- Earl.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held from 4pm-6pm, Friday, July 15, 2022, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
