Obituary for Mareesha C. Smith Banks

Mareesha Chiante’ Smith Banks, beloved daughter of Marvin and Denise Grimes Smith, passed away peacefully on March 09, 2022 surrounded by her devoted family. Her strength, intelligence, determination and tenacity kept her strong throughout her journey.

Mareesha was a 1998 graduate of Ooltewah High School. She furthered her education at East Tennessee State University, Chattanooga State and Capella University. Achieving six degrees in the medical field including LPN, RN and Practitioner. She had the distinct privilege of being published in a Medical Journal.

She was baptized into the Pilgrim Rock Missionary Church Family under the leadership of Pastor John Parks at an early age. She participated in many ministries as she grew in Christ until her health limited her from participating in service, but it did not limit her connection to her church family.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted family; Her Loving Parents, Marvin and Denise Smith;
Children, Marek and Mykkel (Bluefield, W. VA), Martyna (Ooltewah, TN), Kia (Chattanooga) and Goddaughter , A’Nyia (Nashville, TN); Sister, Brittany (Donnie) Edmondson (Murfreesboro, TN); Brother, Brandon Grimes (Chattanooga); Niece, Briley (Murfreesboro, TN); Nephews, Brayden, Kingston, Savion (Murfreesboro, TN), Cortez, B.J. (Chattanooga); Special cousin, Joia Smith Saunders; Significant Other, Antonio Pines (Chattanooga); A host of Aunts, Uncles, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, March 19, 2022 at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, Pastor Floyd “Pop-Pop” Croft , Eulogist. Interment: Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
