Obituary for Mae Ola Harrison
Mae Ola Harrison, 91, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023, at her home in Chattanooga, TN. She was born in Heard County, GA to Mary Jane Ware and Jim Dunson. Mae Ola attended the Heard County Public School System.
Mae Ola confessed Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of New Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where she served proudly as a mother of the church until her health began to fail. Mae loved her role as mother and never missed an opportunity to give God praise and to share the goodness of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Ware; father, Jim Dunson; husbands, Lester Martin, Sr., and John Harrison; son, Lester Martin, Jr. (Chattanooga, TN.); brothers, Willie B. Dunson (Chattanooga, TN), Eddie Dunson and Freddie (Bonnie) Dunson, Lagrange GA; sisters, Jimmie Lou Hill, (LaGrange, GA) and Leola Dennis (Chattanooga, TN).
Mae leaves to cherish her memories, her dear devoted sons, Lunzo (Valencia) Martin and Wilson (Portia) Martin, who all worked tirelessly in her daily care; daughter, Cynthia (Sherry) Martin; grandsons, Courtney Martin, Lunzo T. (Erika) Martin, Lance T. (Kahla) Martin, and Lawrence T. Martin; great grandsons, Nathaniel Martin, Lukas Martin, Lennox Martin, and Legend Martin; sister in love, Willie Sue Dunson; special niece, Mary Katherine Dunson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing will be held at 10:00 AM-12:30 PM, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1616 Washington Street, followed immediately by a 12:30 PM funeral service.
Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
