Mack C. Bumpass, 83, passed away December 6, 2022, in Chattanooga, TN. He was born January 24, 1939, in Savannah, TN, to Butler Bumpass and Essie Belle Williams Bumpass. Mack received an associate degree. He retired from the city of Chattanooga Police Department. He was a very nice and mild-mannered man, a hardworking man. Mack loved his wife, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids very much. He was very proud of the family he made. Mack helped kids in the community when he worked in Alton Park. He was loved and honored by many in the community. Mack was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Butler and Essie Belle Bumpass; wife, Mary Jo Bumpass, four brothers, Grant Bumpass, Butler Bumpass, James Bumpass, and Napoleon Bumpass; daughter, Maxine Bumpass; grandson, De´Monte Bumpass; sister, Dona Diane Bumpass-Reynolds.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, two daughters, Tajuana (Claude) Sterling and Melanie (Grady) Hicks; two sons, Mark (Martha) Bumpass and Joseph (Carrie) Postell; grandchildren, Terrell Vaught, Courtney Eberhardt, DeMarcus Bumpass, Regan Jenkins, Reginald Jenkins, Raven Jenkins, Ashton Snowden; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

The family expresses its many thanks to Latoya Vaught and Terrell Vaught for their kindness as caregivers.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 15, 2020, at the Funeral Home, followed by a 1:00 PM, funeral service in the Chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.
