Obituary for Lucille Locklin

Lucille Locklin, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Lucille was born July 5, 1948, in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late Eddie Lee and Ruby Leona Worbington. Lucille came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Lucille went to college, graduated from Nursing School, and worked for Erlanger Hospital for several years.

She was a faithful member of New Home Baptist Church, where she loved to work with the Children’s Ministry. She also was a member of the New Home Mass Choir and Missionary Society. Her Black History programs, designed to educate the youth of New Home Church concerning African American History and Culture, were legendary. Every year she would oversee the Easter Program, Christmas Program, Vacation Bible School, and the Hallelujah Festival. She was also a dedicated member of the Chattanooga Citywide Choir.

She was preceded in death by her son, Allen L. Locklin Jr., and her sister, Etta Lee Preston. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of 53 years, Allen L. Locklin; daughters, Shannon (Eyo) Efiom and Sophia (Erwin) Lott; grandsons Alexander (Sierra) Efiom and Emon Lott; granddaughter, Sophia Efiom; great-granddaughter, Navarrah Weaver; brother, Charles E. Worbington, and sisters, Charlotte (James) Benford, Sylvia Howard, and Pauline (Alvin) Ar-Rahmaan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, on Thursday, June 23, 2022, followed immediately by an 11:00 AM funeral service at New Home Baptist Church, 2809 13th Avenue.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery 1:00 PM
