Obituary for Linder McFarland
Linder Marlene Laster McFarland, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2022. She was a proud graduate of Riverside High School class of 1967. She also attended Chattanooga College, where she studied court stenography.
Linder had many professional positions throughout her work career, including positions with Baroness Erlanger Hospital, Hamilton County Health Department, Chattanooga Housing Authority, and the Army Recruiting Center. She retired to become the caregiver for her mother. After her mother's passing, she returned to the workforce full-time as a teacher with Champion Christian Learning Academy. She worked until her health failed. Linder also served as a volunteer for Chattanooga Chambliss Center for Children as a foster grandparent.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Laster, Sr.; mother, Frances M. Spring; brothers, Joe Laster, Jr., and Charles Laster; sister, Gwendolyn Laster.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Patrick V. Thurmond; one brother, Richard (Kimberly) Laster; three sisters, Barbara Ragland, Gloria Bulloch, and Jeanette (Wilson) Meadows, and god sister, Jacqueline Carter; a special first cousin, Becky M. Laster Coln; other special cousins, Alfreda Mack, Esther Mack, Jimmy Mack, Clara Mack, Joyce Perryman, and Iris Brown; a special niece, Denise Grady and family; a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Saturday, June 11th, at the funeral home.
Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens.
