Obituary for Lillie Mae Woods

Lillie Mae Woods, 82, was born July 8, 1940, and entered heavenly rest on May 24, 2023. She was born
in Chattanooga, TN to the late Roosevelt and Annie Mae Powell. Lillie graduated from Howard High School in the class of 1958. She accepted Christ in 2003 and was a faithful member of Miracle Missionary Baptist Church. Her career was helping others as a caregiver, a profession that she truly loved. She dedicated her life to taking care of others.

Lillie was strong and independent. She was very outspoken, saying whatever was on her mind. She was honest and truthful. She was a very giving person, willing to help anyone ,whenever she could. She enjoyed shopping and fashion, especially hats and jewelry. Her favorite accessory was perfume. Her request to her granddaughter was to spray her down with perfume once she took her final rest. She loved God, her children, her grandchildren, and her church.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, James Woods; mother, Annie Mae Powell; father, Roosevelt Powell; and brother, Roosevelt Powell, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her sons, James (Cassandra) Woods, Jr., April Woods, and Todd
(Cynthia) Woods; daughter, Michelle Woods; sisters, Carolyn Smith, Gloria (Willie, Sr.) Thornton, and
Kathleen Rizer; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; special friend, Theodore Cooper; and many friends.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day, and not to me only, but also all who have loved his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm- 6:00 pm Friday, June 2, 2023 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends 4:00pm-6:00 pm. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Miracle Missionary Baptist Church, 2009 Ruby Street, 423-622-8686. Interment: Highland Memorial Gardens
