Obituary for Lewis C. Gearing
Lewis Charles Gearing, 77, of Chattanooga passed away Friday November 25, 2022, in a local healthcare facility.
He served honorably in the United States Army with the rank of Private First Class. Lewis was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service he earned a Sharpshooter Rifle Badge along with Vietnam Service Campaign and National Defense Service Metals. After his service in the military he resided in Chattanooga, TN.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ella Louise Gearing; brothers, Donald Gearing and Nathaniel Gearing; sisters, Phyllis Gearing and Angela Gearing Appleberry; a niece, Darilyn Jones
He leaves to cherish his memories, dear friend, Charlene Smith; daughters, Lavonda Williams, Tracy Slaughter, Shanovia Smith, and Stephanie Smith; eight grandchildren, Naimha Greathouse, Lakesha Locke, AAlilyah Duckett, Anthony Watkins, Terrance Sturdivant, Jasmine Sturdivant, Latisha Smith and Cashayla Smith; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gwedolyn Jones; brother, Richard Gearing; a devoted friend, Charles Elliott; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A 12:30 PM graveside service with full military honors will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
