Lester Carl “Tunk” Jones, 68, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2022, in Chattanooga. He was born January 14, 1954, to Annie Bell McClain and Ambrose Louis Jones. Lester was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1972. Lester was employed at Mindy’s Deli.

He was a faithful member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church serving on the First Aid Ministry, in the Male Choir, and Kitchen Ministry.

He loved family, friends, and the Lord. He never met a stranger. Lester loved to sing, dance, and cook. He loved his church family. He was an avid photographer taking pictures of anyone and everyone. He was the best son, brother, and friend anyone could have ever asked for.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Jones. Sr. and Annie Bell McClain Jones; two brothers, Ambrose Jones, Jr., and Paul Jones.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, one brother, James Jones of Chattanooga; one sister, Janie (Maurice Hughes) Jones of Chattanooga; seven nephews, Bryant (DeShannon) Houston of Chattanooga, Amos (Jean Brown) Jones of Clarksville, Edward A. (Marylin) Jones, LaMichael D. Stepp, Jr., Eric D, Stepp, Derek D. (Sharonda) Stepp, all of Chattanooga, and Ryan Tate of Hollywood CA; one nice Shaniqua (Jamal) Watkins-Jones, Chattanooga; a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Gloria Noble, Walter Howard, and Elaine Green.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm - 6:00pm Sunday August 7, 2022, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. An 11:00 AM funeral service will be held Monday, August 8, 2022, at John P Franklin Funeral Home 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.

Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
