Obituary for Lena Ester Burt

Lena Ester Campbell Burt was born October 6, 1952, to Tommie Campbell and Allene Davis Campbell Rogers. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Lena attended public schools in Town Creek, AL, and was a member of the Central High Class of 1970. Lena attended Chattanooga State and was a faithful member of Greater Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church where she served as deaconess for 38 years.

Lena worked at Hamilton County Nursing Home for 6 years as a CNA, at Parkridge Hospital for 12 years as a phlebotomist, and retired from Erlanger Hospital after working there for 18 years.

Lena loved to shop, and her friends called her ‘the fashionista.’ She enjoyed talking and joking around with her family and friends.

Lena was preceded in death by her father, Tommie Campbell; brothers, Thomas Campbell, Tony Campbell, Grady Campbell; and sister, Bertha Campbell Garner.

Lena is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Jimmie Burt; two dedicated and loving children, Shonia Burt, and Terrence Burt, of Atlanta, GA; a loving Mother, Allene Rogers, Cleveland, OH; a devoted sister, Retha Campbell Newson, Chattanooga; sisters, Katie (Robert) Smith, and Debbie Ricks, of Muscle Shoals, AL; Sheneal Clay, Madison AL; brothers, Levone Newsome and Robert Mullins of Leighton, AL; Larry Miller, Aurora IL; Mark (Tracy) Campbell, Rogersville, AL, Edward Goodwin, Muscle Shoals, AL, Fredrick (Alisha) Goodwin, Huntsville, AL, Cleveland ( Debra) Brown, Town Creek, AL and Mark Rogers, Cleveland, OH. Also left to cherish her memory are uncles, Percell (Wanda ) Davis, and Franklin ( Emily) Davis, of Cleveland, OH; a dedicated nephew, Tommy Garner, Chattanooga; special niece, Dietrich Orr; special nephew, Norman Garner, Town Creek, AL; aunt, Edna Redd, Courtland, AL; special cousins, Mildred Crutch, Sonny (Nazarene) Crawford, Chattanooga and Fred Lindsey, Louisville, KY; special neighbor, Jenny Ruth Allen; eleven nieces, nineteen great nieces, fifteen great nephews, four great-grandnieces, six great-grand nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 am-11:30 am, Monday, April 25, 2022, followed immediately by a funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
