Obituary for KaWanna Nichelle Jackson

KaWanna N. Jackson, 32, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023. Ms. Jackson, a native of Chattanooga, was born to her parents, the late Carrie V. Moore (1962-2015) and the late Jerry ‘Buster’ Jackson, Jr.(1965-2020).

As a young child, Ms. Jackson quoted scripture John 3:16 to everyone. While in her adolescent years, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Rock Island Baptist Church.

Ms. Jackson attended Brainerd High School, then later received her General Education Development credentials from Chattanooga State Technical Community College.

Ms. Jackson was a tenacious and loving person. She loved her family whole-heartedly, especially her ‘joy’, her only child, Ka’Mari.
Kind hearted, gentle, comical, and generous, she will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Moore and Jerry Jackson; brother, Julius L. Moore; maternal grandparents, Theodore Lancaster, Sr., and O’dell (Troy) Teague; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Laverne) Jackson, Sr.; uncles, Theodore Lancaster, Jr., Jeffery Jackson Sr., and Ted Lancaster; aunts, Delphine Lancaster, Lisa Lancaster, Theadora Lancaster, Burline Lancaster, and Nellie Horton.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Ka’Mari; sister, Julia (Titus, IV) Moore-Bates; nephew, Titus Bates, V; niece, Ellary A. Bates; stepmom, Kim Jackson; step siblings, Tori Cook, Shelbi Mincey, and Jaelen Cook; godmother, Dana Williams; aunts, Carla Jackson and LaShannon (Marcus) McConnell both of Chattanooga, Vivan Jackson, and Rhonda Lee of Washington, DC; uncle, Ricardo Lee of Washington, DC; several great aunts, great uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved and cared greatly for her..
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, Saturday, November 11, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404 with Reverend Dr. Steve A. Caudle, Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church, as eulogist.
