Obituary for John Homer Eason III (Kendrick)

John (Johnny) Homer Eason III (Kendrick) was born on July 20, 1949 in Los Angeles, CA to John Homer Eason, Jr and Bettye Gaines Eason Kendrick. John transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

John was educated in the public schools in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1967 where played trumpet in the illustrious Riverside Trojans Marching Band. John joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation where he fought on the front lines during the Vietnam War. He earned many medals and awards during his service. They are: Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one (1) Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the RVNMUG Gallantry Cross with Palm and Frame. John left the Marine Corps after 16 years of service. He worked as a civilian at the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) located in Albany, Georgia until his retirement. John was raised attending church at Warren Chapel A.M.E. church in Chattanooga TN.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Eason Jr, Bettye Gaines Eason Kendrick, and his step-father James M. Kendrick. He is survived by his children; Kevin Kendrick of Bridgeport AL, Johnathan Eason, of Albany GA and Andreasus Eason of Albany GA; grandchildren, Karrington Singfield and Ayden Hunt of Albany GA; Katurah Kendrick of Bridgeport AL, Kammerrone Sawyer, Laila Eason, Chanson Eason and Ayria Eason of Albany GA; brother, Glenn Kendrick and sister, Willeata Kendrick, both of Chattanooga TN; aunt, Dorneata Johnson; and special ladies, Mryna Eason Cooper and Deborah Eason Robinson. John will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends. A special thanks is given to Sharon Kelley and her staff, who cared for John for many years at her adult day care and assisted living facility.

John’s celebration of life service will be held at Warren Chapel A.M.E. Church located at 503 Market Street, Chattanooga TN 37405 on March 21, 2022. Public viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00am; funeral service will begin at 11:00am. John’s military burial will begin at 1:00pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga TN, 37404.
