James Allison Moore transitioned from his earthly life to be with his wife, Doretha R. Moore, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. He was a retired Sergeant Major with the U.S. Army and he also retired from Wheland Foundry. He was a faithful member of New Monumental Baptist Church where he served as President of the Usher Board.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allison and Mentory Moore; uncle, Charlie Moore; sisters, Laura Bell Davis and Bernice Moore; his devoted wife, Doretha R. Moore. He leaves to cherish his memories, 7 children, Julene Johnson, Mervin (Loretta) Moore, Raymond (Gracie) Moore, Frederick (Marva) Berry, Pamela Berry, Nannie (Lewis) Henderson, Deborah (James) Hickey; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; many devoted family and friends.
A special thanks to Dr. Saundra Williams MD for her extraordinary care which allowed him to transition at home.
A public viewing will be held from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm Saturday, January 2, 2020 at the funeral home followed by a graveside at 1:00 pm. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
