Iris W. (Turner) Brown was born on April 25, 1937, in Chattanooga.
She was transitioned home on January 3rd ,2023 She was a member of Greater Friendship Community Church (formerly Friendship Primitive Baptist Church)
Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Virge Turner and Mac Turner; her husbands, James Cook and Elbert Brown.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Cook, Clayton (Cynthia ) Cook, and Toney (Valerie) Cook of Nashville; stepdaughter, Belinda Cook; aunt, Otha (Ralph) Hunter of Rome, GA; grandchildren, Malcolm D. Smiley, Renita Cook, Latiea Cook, Marquita (Langston) Muse and Erika Cook of Atlanta, GA, Brian Neely, and Deltric ( Aisha ) Malone; great grandchildren, Letray Hymes, Jawanna Butchee, Jamya Butchee, Janiesia Butchee, London Lewis, De'Asia Lewis, Mya Toney, Ailani Muse, London Muse, Dominic Smiley, Ayden Smiley; great-great grandson, Dekari Lewis; a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the funeral home. An 11:00 am funeral service will be held, Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
