Obituary for Harry L Bryant

Harry Leon Bryant, 77, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 in Chattanooga. He joined Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. He graduated from Howard High School, class of 1962. He was the first black service manager for Volkswagen. He later joined the Army (Vietnam era), worked in the “motor pool” and was known as “Sarge”. After discharge, he returned home and was owner/operator of several tractor trucks. He most recently studied under Shepherds Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Bryant Sr. and Henrietta Rogers; brother, Oscar Bryant, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Higgins.

He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Bryant (together for 54 years); children, Therion, Timothy, Henry, Barry, Tonya, Troy and Charles; siblings, Rozenia Dallas, of Chattanooga, Mary Lee (of Florida), Beverly (Lewis) Cook, of Alabama, Claudia (Jeff) Sears, of Chattanooga, James (Cassie) Bryant, of Las Vegas and Johnnie Bryant, of Chattanooga.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, Monday, July 18, 2022, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, immediately followed by a 12:30 pm graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Avenue.
