Obituary for Harold Dorrell

Harold L. Dorrell, 65, departed this Earth on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, in Chattanooga , Tennessee. He attended Riverside High School and later joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he excelled as an Aircraft Mechanic and received a Rifle Marksman Award. Harold enjoyed drag racing and would often race at the Brainerd Drag Strip. He spent most of his adult life working on cars, and was an excellent Auto Mechanic. He also worked at TVA, Scholtz &Tannery, Cumberland Case, and Holiday Inn.

Harold was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel L. Dorrell; father, Willie H. Dorrell; nephew, Turhan McKenzie, Jr.; uncle, Eddie Dorrell; grandmothers, Sylvia Burgess and Diana Jenkins; and grandfathers, Bonnie Burgess, Sr., and Jimmy Young.

He leaves to cherish his memories, sisters, Wilma (Turhan) McKenzie, Brenda (Michael) Dorrell Hicks, E. Mae Dorrell; wife, Tina Richardson Dorrell; sons, James (Latoya) Richardson, Augusta, Georgia, Tony (TaEdie) Richardson, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Derrick (Kisha) Richardson, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Demetrus Richardson, Chattanooga, Tennessee; aunts, Mrs. Hannah Burton, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mary Ann Brooks, Georgetown, South Carolina, Emily Robinson, Georgetown South Carolina; uncles, Rev. Charlie (Delia) Burgess, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Horace (Terra) Jenkins, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Joshua (Gloria) Jenkins, Chattanooga Tennessee; grandchild, Doris Paris, Chattanooga, Tennessee; nephews, Marcus Dorrell, Atlanta, Georgia, Danny Hicks, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; nieces, Trevor McKenzie, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Erica (Daron) Shropshire-Roller, Atlanta, Georgia; great nephews, Trevon Moses, Anthony Bell, II, Marcus Dorrell, Jr.; great niece, O'Niah Roller; very devoted friend, Abdullah, from Abdullah Supermarket in South Chattanooga; a host of other nieces, nephews, uncles, aunties, cousins, family and friends.

We are all so appreciative of the time that we were able to spend with Harold. He was a very special person and was always willing to help anyone out. Since he was such a great Mechanic, people from all over the Chattanooga area sought him out to fix their car(s). He will truly be missed, along with with his beautiful smile.

Public viewing will be held 9:00 am - 11:00 am Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the funeral home followed by a 11:00 am family funeral service. Interment: Chattanooga National.
