Obituary for Gloria Jean Vinson

Gloria Jean Vinson, 67, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on April 17, 2022, at Atrium Health Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Gloria was known by the family as “Jean” and to some friends as “Momma Glo”.
Gloria was born in Hamilton County, on April 27, 1954, to the late Dennis Holland and the late Alice Holland.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a graduate of Central High School and Edmondson Junior College. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield as a data entry specialist.

In 2019, Gloria moved to Charlotte, NC with her two sons, who were her primary caregivers up until God called her home. Daily, she would read her bible faithfully, listen to gospel music, and listen to the word of God. She loved some Charles Stanley! On her good days, she enjoyed shopping at Burlington and the Goodwill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Holland and Alice Holland.

She will be missed and forever cherished by her sons, Gary Jones and Keric Vinson; her daughter, Yolanda Smith; five grandchildren, Ralph Smith, Vivian Smith, Charles Smith, Victoria Jones, and Jenesis Burse; great-grandchild, Anaies Smith; her brothers, Clyde (Evie) Holland, Charles (Elaine) Holland, Kenneth Holland, and Michael Holland; a special friend, Shanetta Jackson; a dear friend that she spoke to daily; Jalpha Ray; and a host of other relatives, friends, and colleagues.

Her legacy will live on in the many lessons she imparted to us. The memories, cherished conversations, and laughter will sustain us until we are all together again.

Public viewing will be held from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM, on Saturday, April 30, 2022, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:30 AM in the chapel of the funeral home.

Interment: Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
