Obituary for George W. Freeman

George Washington Freeman, 77, was the son of the late Lincoln W. Freeman and Pearl Tuggle. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 30, 1944, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 15, 2022, just fifteen days before his seventy-eighth birthday.

George worked for the city of Chattanooga Public Works Department as a driver. The same place from which he retired.

George was a very spiritual, passionate, and God-fearing man. He showed love to everyone and prayed for everyone. He was full of life. He kept a smile on his face as well, as those who were in his presence. George had a heart of “pure gold”, always thankful for his family, friends, and especially the Lord. He enjoyed dancing, singing, and praising the love of the Lord. Oh, what a wonderful man he was! His family wants to say “Thank you Jesus for sharing him with us.”

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his daughters, Latisha Freeman, Derrica Freeman, and Deborah Wilson; step-daughters, Diane, Tracey, and Tawanna Toney, all of Chattanooga, TN; special friend, Ernestine Toney; brother, William Freeman; sister, Ernestine Freeman, both of Chattanooga, TN; son-in-law, Cramell Oates; nephews, James, Toney, Derrick Richardson and Demetrius Freeman, all of Chattanooga, TN; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a host of step-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the funeral home. An 11:00 AM funeral service will be held, Thursday, December 29, 2022 in the chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
