Obituary for Emma D. Finley

Emma Dale Finley was born June 19, 1929, in Talladega, Alabama to the late Hattie Stockdale. She departed this life early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2023, at her residence.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Frank Finley; Son, James Edward Finley; Sisters, Bernice Gaston, and Betty Hearn; Brother, Walter Turner.

She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years where she faithfully attended Sunday School, participated in the Missionary Society, and sang in the Senior Choir.

Emma held multiple jobs after moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee but she retired from American Manufactures in 1994, just a few months shy of her 65th birthday, where she was employed for over 30 years.

Emma is survived by her daughter, Alma Jean Thompson; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Wise Finley; Sister, Mattie Bibbs of Talladega, Alabama; Sister-in-law, Juanita Turner; Brother-in-law, Johnny Finley. She was a loving and kind grandmother to her grandchildren Nakia (Annette) Thompson Sr., Shalon Dozier, James (Stacey) Finley of Pasadena, California, and Alicia Thompson. She was especially dear to her great-grandchildren, Nakia Thompson Jr., Dominic Thompson, Ashley Dozier, Akia Thompson, Kelvon Dozier, Endya Dozier, Zion Thompson, LaTreyvius Dozier, Amiya Thompson, Jillian Finley, Messiah Donner, Jayla Finley, Olivia Thompson, Khelan Donner, and James Shawn Finley, and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, at the funeral home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 6th in the chapel. Interment: Hamilton Memorial Gardens
