Obituary for Dennis L. Finley

Dennis L. Finley, 73, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, in a local hospital. He was devoted to his church, Tabernacle Baptist, where he was an associate pastor and served on different committees. He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and attended Riverside High School. After completing high school, he joined the Air Force where he served until 1975 and then retired in 1999 from Broad River Correctional Institute in Columbia, SC, where he was a Lieutenant Chief Supervisor. He had a servant’s heart and loved sharing God’s word with everyone he encountered. He will always be remembered for a calm spirit, willingness to always help, and his belief in 2nd chances.

He leaves to cherish his memory to his six loving children; Sireta (Todd) Cameron, D.L Finley, Demetrich (Alicia) Finley, Tabitha (Stephon) Cornell, Aquila Finley, and Walter Finley; his siblings, Edward (Elizabeth) Cooper, Early L. Cooper Jr., and Betty Moseley; uncle, Rev. Grant Harris Jr., a devoted friend, Roderick T. Alston; 31 grandchildren; a host of other devoted family members and friends.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the funeral home. A private family funeral service will be held with Reverend Grant Harris, Jr., officiating. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
