Obituary for Darlene Ramsey Bedford

Darlene Ramsey Bedford, 62, departed this earth on Monday, February 8, 2021, at her residence. She was born on June 10, 1958. She was a Brainerd High School graduate, class of 1976, and attended Chattanooga State Community College.

She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Granny.” She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.

She always spoke encouraging, uplifting words, and forever kept a smile on her face. She was deeply passionate about the Lord and exemplified Jesus Christ’s character to the best of her ability. She was a member of Warren Chapel AME Church where she used her gifts and talents to serve on the Women’s Missionary Society, Prayer Warrior Ministry, and Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bedford; father, Frederick Ramsey; mother, Mable Ramsey; brother, Donald Cornelius Ramsey; grandparents, Lena Mae (Villard) Smith, John Q. (Addie) Ramsey, Sr.; son-in-law, Errol Freeman.

Survivors include her son, Carl (Measha) Ramsey Sr.; daughter, Cassaundra Freeman; grandchildren, Carl Ramsey, Jr. (C.J.), Lamia Freeman and Leona Freeman; sisters, Audrey Ramsey, Celestine Ramsey, Angela (Tony) Mills; brother, Anthony (Sherri) Ramsey; nephews, Sherrod Ramsey, Willie (LeAnn) Idlette, III, Wesley (Chrissy) Idlette of Kingsport, TN; uncles, Joe Edward (Margarine) Ramsey, Thomas (Carolyn) Smith; aunts, Virginia (Billy) Spann, Violet Nolton, Marilyn Smith, Doris Smith Burke, and a host of family and friends.

Thank you, Jesus, for the time you’ve allowed us to have with her. “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” – 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4.

Public viewing will be held, 2:00 PM-6:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at the funeral home. A private funeral service will be held.
