Obituary for Darleen Hale

Darleen Hale, was born and raised in the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Tommie Hale, Sr. and Ms. Earnestine Sims Terrell on June 14, 1959. She departed her earthly life on January 14, 2023 at the Villa Rica Hospital in Villa Rica, Georgia.

Darleen loved the Lord and at a very young age, she was gifted in quoting bible verses fluently. As a child, she joined the
New Monumental Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized under the Pastoral Leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Virgil J. Caldwell where she served in the Youth Choir. In 2011, Darleen relocated to Georgia and united with the New Mountain Top Baptist Church.

Darleen was well-loved and respected, her smile, gentle spirit, and laughter followed her everywhere. She attended Kirkman High School and excelled both academically and athletically. With much anticipation Darleen joined the drafting school of study at Kirkman with hopes of becoming an architect or engineer. Darleen was a talented artist and an amazing athlete. She was naturally talented at sketching and creatively gifted in drawing. Darleen won several statewide competitions in Drafting.

“I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT!”

Darleen was a fierce competitor in track and field and basketball. She was a valuable member of the track and field team and became one of the fastest female track stars in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After all her late brother “Too Tuff “Tony was a world class athlete and a 14-time all American it was in her genes! She also excelled well in basketball where she was one of the best and hardest working defensive players for Kirkman “Golden Hawks”.

Darleen graduated from Kirkman Technical High School with the class of 1977 and received a full ride scholarship in mechanical engineering. Darleen continued her education and attended Chattanooga State Community College where she was consistently on the Dean’s List. Darleen became passionate with helping others and had a great love for children, which led her to become certified in childcare. Darlene also became the primary caregiver for her mother for many years.

In her later years, Darleen enjoyed the simpler things in life; all centered around home-life and family. If you spent time with her, you may have witnessed her whipping up a flavorful feast in a matter of minutes, almost like MAGIC! She enjoyed playing cards and BINGO and if you ever heard her, say “Help The Bear", you knew she was about to win ... AGAIN!!!

Darleen is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Tommie Hale, Sr. and Emma Joe Hale; three brothers, Matthew Beach, James Hale and Tony Hale; and one sister, Emma Moore.
