Cynthia J. Williams was born July 2, 1950, to the late Lawrence Joyner, Sr., and Emma Jones Joyner. She is preceded in death by her beloved Grandmother, Mrs. Jessie Mae Jones.
Cynthia accepted Christ at an early age at the Mt. Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of her dear cousin. the late Rev. O.L. Pounds. She was a faithful member of the New United Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the coordinator of the Usher Board. She was involved in the Hospitality committee, the Women’s ministry, Special Events Committee, the Faith & Charity ministry, and Church renovation/Beautification. She loved her Pastor and Church family.
Cynthia graduated from Tusculum University with a business degree. She was employed with Atlanta Gas Light, TVA, Dupont, and The County Courts Community Services. Cynthia was a devoted member of the Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She tirelessly served on the Southern Regional Leadership Team as the State Chair of Protocol and Tradition. Her contributions were well known, both locally and nationally, Additional volunteerism efforts include Habitat for Humanity, the Eastside Taskforce, the Minority Health Fair, and Friends of the Library.
Those left to cherish her memory, husband, Louis Williams; Son KaRon Gaston; daughters, Leslie (Reginald) Poindexter, Renecca Williams; son Louis Williams Jr. 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Lawrence (Susan) Joyner Jr, Ron Joyner and Jerome (Angela) Joyner; a sister Carolyn Joyner Hutchins; sister-in-law Sarah Louise Weaver; two aunts (very special aunt, Mrs. Judy Acosta); beloved nephews, devoted cousins, other relatives, many friends (lifelong best friend Audrey Gail Slaughter and special friend Elzada Jackson) Cynthia was devoted to her faith, family, and friends. She was a consummate cook. She enjoyed entertaining, and she loved to travel, fashion, and all things beautiful.

A public viewing will be held, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the funeral home. A private funeral service will be held. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
