Obituary for Constance Hampton
Constance “Connie” Hampton, 61 of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to sleep in Heaven on January 6, 2023, at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was of Baptist Faith and a member of Bible Way Ministries. She was a 1979 graduate of Kirkman Technical High School where she played volleyball and served in many clubs. She received an Associate Degree from Virginia College in 2012. Constance loved watching movies, helping others in need, and singing gospel songs. She faithfully read her Bible and served the Lord daily. Her grandkids and great-grandkids are her pride and joy.
Constance worked as a Bus Driver for HCDE and Meter Patrol for the City of Chattanooga before retiring from the City of Chattanooga Head Start Department in Dietary due to health.
Constance was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanette Clark Howard and James Embry; husband, Edward Hampton; stepfather, Lenord Clark; brother, Leonard Clark, Jr.; grandfather, Charlie Craw; grandmother, Georgia Mae Upshaw; aunt, Thelma Sparks; uncle, Ernest Craw, Sr.; uncle, Frank Jones; and cousin, Armae Owens.
Constance is survived by her daughters: LaSandra Toney and Christie (Curtis) Morris; grandkids, Jasmine Toney, Tirrea Toney, Alexis Toney, Jacobi Massengill, Jordan McClendon , Adrienne Morris; great-grandkids, Major Woods, Tyler Davis, Jr., McKenzie Covington, and King Toney; Fur Baby, Rockie; significant other, Ronnie Jones; grandmother, Jimmie L. Craw; sisters, Vivian Hicks and Tracy (Walter) Jackson; aunts, Edra Owens, Bobbie Craw, and Mildred
Jones; uncles, Harold (Donnie) Craw, and Louis Craw; nieces, Erica (Darnell) Walker and Dr. Arreona (Marcus) Cade Johnson; nephews, Devin Clark and Adrian (JaQuon) Jackson; several cousins, church family, and friends.
Services will be Wednesday, January 18th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of John P. Franklin Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Owens, Jr. officiating. Public visitation will be held 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 18, 2023 in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
The family will have Repast after services on January 18th at South Chattanooga Recreation Center located at 1151 W.40th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37409.
