Claude “Allen” Collins, born May 7, 1939, in Rossville , Georgia, to Robert “Joe” and Kathryn Foster Collins, left this world on April 29, 2021, at his home, at the age of 81.
He was a true and dedicated husband, father, and Poppie, to 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Claude ran his own auto body shop under the name of Al’s body shop. He loved to bowl and was a member of many leagues in the Fort Oglethorpe area. He retired from Sentinel Transportation in 2005 after having driven for 27 years for other local trucking companies. He was very involved with Ridgeland High School Band during the 2007-2010 football seasons.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Kathryn Collins; 2 brothers, Floyd (Tommy) Collins and Robert (Lou) Collins; granddaughter, Crystal Collins; daughter-in-law, Lorri Robinson Collins; great niece, Sissy Collins; 3 dear nephews, Mitch Hardigree, Jack Sprayberry and Mike Collins.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda D. Collins; two daughters, Debbie (Ben) Marrow of Whitebluff, Tn., Cindy (Joe) Carlton of Eagleville, Tn; two sons, Ricky (Tonya) Collins of Portland, Tn. and David Collins of Ringgold, Ga; two sisters, Betty Jean Sprayberry of Ringgold, Ga. and Rose Sharon Hutson, of Crocket, Ca; very close cousin and friend, Gene Foster.
Allan requested a celebration of life (party) which will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Chattanooga, or Untethered Church of Ft. Oglethorpe, in memory of Allen Collins.
