Obituary for Clarence Leon Hilt, Sr.
Clarence Leon Hilt, Sr., 87, passed away July 30, 2022, at his residence. Clarence was of the Baptist faith. He retired from the City of Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Titus and Cornelia Hilt; his two sisters, Evelyn Hilt and Clarice Putman; his three brothers, Dr. Leonard Bernard Hilt, Robert Lewis Hilt and Gordon Eugene Hilt.
He is survived by his 4 children, Clarence Leon Hilt, Jr., of Los Angeles, California, Timothy Lewis Hilt, of Chattanooga, Evelyn Onnerzell Grimes,of Ellenwood, Georgia and Cynthia (William) Leak of Chattanooga.; 2 sisters, Carolyn Bernice Hilt and Marion Elizabeth Hilt.
He also lives behind his friend and companion of 43 years, Iretha Gardner and her two daughters, Glenda Gardner and Yolanda Gardner; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Public viewing will be held 9 am – 12:00 pm Thursday, August 4,2022, followed by a 12:00 pm funeral service in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
